Year eight Advanced Art - Abstract Expressionist Eyes.....

This term we are looking at expressionism - the use of colour and brush strokes to express what we are trying to say or see, rather than what it represents We chose eyes, simple, expressive In their own right.  The following is examples of my students painting over the top of A3 photocopies of eyes. We started with three colours (light, mid and dark tone) coloured oil pastels. We finished by using a dark highlighting acrylic paint, applied with our fingers.

Presentation the edges of the paper were ripped and presented on card.

Well after these we went one step further and designed an eye in colour. Each student was given a canvas board and acylic paint some works in progress.....
