Text as Art - Year 9

Coloured Pencils on Canson Paper

"Text as Art" - year nine students were asked to design a piece of artwork that used words, lyrics, poetry, quotes, songs segments, that related to them in any way.  Any medium could be used; they chose the techniques and media to produce their own artwork; these are some of the results of independent investigation and techniques based around text.

Enrichment - Exhibition Entries (2011)

These examples of students art were produced as art entries to a local community art exhibition last year.  Students looked at a range of eyes (animal and birds) they chose one that they could enlarge. Students drew them on paper first, enlarging them to suit their canvas boards.

Once they had them on their boards, they outlined the eye and texture using impasto gel in a sauce bottle.  Let the Gel dry, this gave their painting an added dimension. Then they had fun with colour, firstly painting with a base colour and building their eyes with a colour scheme, realism wasnt necessarily impotant.  Thsi also gave them an opportunity to explore texture.
